Amazing Race

Heard that Season 5 of The Amazing Race (which starts airing on Studio 23 and AXN channels next month) includes a stop in the Philippines. According to sources, the race contestants and crew were spotted at Lagen Island Resort in El Nido, Palawan sometime last February.

In the past (i.e. during and after seasons 1-4), whenever I get into discussions regarding this show with other friends who are also avid followers of the program, it would often lead to us discussing about possible places, challenges, and trials that await the contestants if ever the producers decide to make a stop here in the Philippines. However, we were not envisioning Palawan or any of the beautiful beaches around here. We were thinking more like having the contestants run around the busy and dangerous streets or something like that.

Not that I’m complaining though. We went to the said resort last year, and found the place to be magnificent. We really had a wonderful time. Well, except maybe for the part where while we were having dinner on an isolated island (which horribly enough only appears during low tide), it started raining hard and somehow we started thinking about the possibility of the island (it was called snake island) sinking faster than the time it will take for our rescue ships to bring us to safety. Of course they proved to be nothing but unfounded fears as the management of Lagen Island Resort acted quickly and brought us to much safer shores faster than we can say “glug glug glug”.

Anyway, if the rumors are indeed true, then this will be an additional reason to look forward to this season’s Amazing Race.

On your mark, ready, get set, go!
