“Music is the universal language of mankind”
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I have been a music lover from as far back as I can remember. This is despite the fact that I’m not really good when it comes to singing or dancing. Heard someone singing out of tune and/or saw someone trying hard to dance but with poor body coordination? Yeah, that could have been me. But still, most of the time, I find myself playing a song in my head (or aloud), or moving to the rhythm of a beat (even an imaginary beat). There're lots of songs out there that when I hear playing, gets stuck in my head for the entire remainder of the day (sometimes even longer), or until the next song comes along and takes its place in my mind. This is the primary reason why my statuses in YM are mostly lines taken from whatever song is playing in my head at that particular time.
And oh boy, I can still remember the excitement I felt when I learned how to play the guitar. The thought that, “wow I am able to play an entire song with this instrument” really gave me a strong feeling of accomplishment. Unfortunately, my guitar got broken some years back, and from then, opportunities to pluck some strings came very few and far in between. Even the band that we (college buddies and I) formed during college got disbanded as the members went separate ways after graduation.
Anyway, enough of that, hmmm perhaps just an afterthought, if what Mr. Longfellow said in the quote above is true, then Music can be used to bridge gaps everywhere. Maybe music can provide the answer to all the differences in the whole world.
Here’s wishing everyone a music-filled day. :)
