Godfather

Tomorrow morning, I get to play the role of Godfather (for only the second time in my life) as the second child of one of my friends from way back high school gets baptized at Binondo church here in Manila.

The first time I became a Godfather was several months back. The mother of the child happened to be one of my close friends at the office. When we became teammates in one of the projects we were working at four years ago, she adopted me as a nephew. Haven’t stopped calling her “tita” ever since (even when everybody else in our circle of friends call her “mommy”).

From another baptismal that I went to last year (where I was asked to stand-in as a proxy Godfather), I learned that the primary duty of Godparents is to pray to God for the child, hence the term “Godparent”. Therefore, I make sure to always include baby Dana Althea in my prayers, and from tomorrow I will add baby Richard Anthony to my prayers as well.
